Service Notes
SERVICE TITLE: WHY WE PRAY
Deacon George leads Prayer session:
· We are praying declaring boldly that the wicked spirits responsible for upheavals are unseated
They are cut down and God’s glory reigns in the earth. Pray fervently in the spirit, affirming that all those who instigate or are sponsoring the agenda of the anti-Christ in our days,
their folly is made manifest, and their wicked works exposed and thwarted
· We take our place as king-priest to effect changes all over the world. We put a stop to the evil machination, manoeuvres of satan and the light of the Gospel of Christ shine gloriously around the world and many who are hitherto in the paths of destruction are turned from darkness to light
Pastor Earnest Teaching:
We must learn to study the word of God
Get the word of God into your system, believe and act it
We were born of the word and so we live by the word
We are not the ones from whom demons, the devil or satan should be cast out
But are we not attacked? We are
The truth is that once you get born again you become a major target for the devil
The devil may come into your dream, your finances or anything else that concerns you but it shouldn’t take the help of another brother for you to get him out
You need to come to that level, a life of perpetual victory
Why are some Christians living in different kinds of challenges today?
The question is:
What did Jesus come for?
What was His purpose for Coming?
The Church is not a place where we come to escape from the devil
The devil understood that there was a hedge around Job that he couldn’t penetrate through
If this could happen for Job how much more you that are born again
There are those who are oppressed by the devil to whom God has sent us to go and deliver
God is sending us to go deliver those who are help captive but the sad thing is that most of these deliverers believe they themselves are held captive by the one who captures
Luke 18:1(NLT)
2 major reasons why we pray:
1. Prayer is a fellowship with God.
We pray to interact with God. We hear from Him and He hears from us. A place of sharing, oneness and drinking together
2. We pray to receive answers
Anybody who prays outside these primary reasons is praying amiss
Prayer is not a matter of what we feel
We may not feel like it, it doesn’t really matter
We walk, live by faith
The more you read and have an understanding of God, the more real He becomes to you.
God is real
There are people who pray without expecting an answer but they get one. Why?
Because God loves everyone
The truth is you prayed expecting an answer
It is better to pray expecting am answer than praying without one
When we pray, God answers
In the place of prayer since it is a fellowship with Him, your consciousness about Him becomes brighter and brighter
When you pray, enlightenment comes
In the place of prayer there is clear sense of direction
We pray to fellowship and in the place of fellowship we receive answers
Luke 18:1-14(NLT)
- When you pray, you must expect to receive answers
Sometimes the things that the scriptures teach us are the things that others have put to work and have succeeded
There are peoples who were raised to have these character traits, - diligence, - hard work
So, they tend to ask themselves, ’what do I even need from God?’
And I am not talking about Christians
There are people who have never known lack or been sick in their lives but are not Christians. And they are tempted to think that they don’t need Jesus for anything
There are those who think that they no longer need God in their businesses because they are smart
Romans 8:1
Those who understand life is spiritual are those who walk after the spirit
Those who believe they can handle it on own and feel as though God is not needed in their situation are those who live after the flesh
When you come to God, you are no longer living by you
You are living by the new you who is born in and of God
The one who is thinking it is by his own ability is the one living according to the flesh and the scriptures let us know that, that will fail
1 Corinthians 8:10-13(NKJV)
One who has knowledge in this verse means one who is a matured Christian
Notice: verse 12
Acts 9:1-16(NKJV)
In reality, Paul was persecuting Jesus
Although in the physical he was persecuting the Church
Whatsoever you do too another brother, you do to Christ Jesus
In the place of prayer, we have become one, so your burden has become my burden
So whatsoever you are suffering I have a responsibility to help annihilate that burden
Selfishness in prayer is no longer a considered factor why because we are one in Christ
Lift up your hand in prayer
Pray in the spirit
WE ARE ONE IN CHRIST
