Message Focus: Meeting our Needs Supernaturally
We have been talking about meeting our needs supernaturally; as people born of the Word of God, we live in the Word just as the Word lives in us. We as Christians live a life beyond the ordinary, we have the knowledge which is the Word of God and with this we live as God planned for us to live. Remember Jesus said that we should be of good cheer for he has overcome the world. (Scripture Reference John 16:33) as we come into this light, we are to first of all ensure that we bring others into this light also because those who are not in this light, cannot function with this knowledge.
Today I would like to share with you these four truths, these little nuggets to take with you, these will also help you to live in a place of meeting your needs supernaturally.
1. Recognize the person of the Holy Spirit: recognize his place and purpose in you. Allow the Holy Spirit be your compass, your guide, your helper, your comforter, your teacher. Let him function in your life. Let’s read John 14: 15 – 16 “If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;”
Jesus Christ promised us the Holy Spirit, and indeed the Holy Spirit came to dwell in the inside of us. Choose to walk in the path that God already ordained for you. The Holy Spirit is in you to guide you on that path. He said in John 14:15 that if you love him, keep his commandments, the Holy Spirit is the voice of God., thus if you love him, you will obey what the Holy Spirit speaks to you. With Him there’s no confusion, he is what you need, not some chip in the inside of your body.
John 15: 17 – 18 “Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” He knows you, he created you, he understands everything about you and about your body, and with him no sickness can stay in your body. The Word says in Romans 8: 11 “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you” this is the Spirit that we are talking about. Recognize the work that He came to do, and give Him room to function in your life.
2. Recognize the hand of God in the seemingly little things around you: it is good to pray, but learn also to hear him when you pray. He speaks, even if it’s a need you carry to him, when you pray listen for the answer: otherwise you just complained and you’re going back with your problem. You might be asking God for something very big, but if he gives you an idea that seems small, just start. So long as it came from him, be sure that it will succeed. Do not despise the day of little things. (Scripture Ref - Zechariah 4: 10)
Let’s read 1 Kings 18:44 “And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.” Elijah had been praying for rain, and on sending his servant again to check for rain, the seventh time he came back to tell Elijah there was a little cloud, as small as a man’s hand, but that was enough for Elijah to know his prayer has been answered and there was going to be rain. Do not despise the small beginnings or the little things God does for you.
3. Be focused; refuse distractions: 2 Kings 4: 1 – 4 “Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. And Elisha said unto her, what shall I do for thee? Tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.”
Elijah told the woman to shut the door, why? Because the neighbors might make fun of her and this could discourage her. Remember that the instructions of the Holy Spirit will not make sense to the people of the world and they can distract you. You often find Christians crying about what other people have said about them, but what about what the Holy Spirit said? That is all that matters. The Bible says to guard your heart with all diligence (Scripture Ref – Proverbs 4: 23)
4. Be thankful at all times: Learn to appreciate God. Be thankful in all things. When last did you on your own, just thanked God. Not what you do when you come to church and the Pastor asks everyone to lift up their hands and thank God. Ephesians 5: 20 says : “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”
With God there’s no failure in your life, you can never be disadvantaged. Practice these things and walk in the knowledge that God has provided us.
