Pastor Earnest
Prayer Session
It's time for us to take our position and let the world know who we are. A lot of people talk about the greatness and all powerfulness of the Lord but you don't see the manifestation of that power in their lives. But all that is changing, and it's changing fast.
It has started with you. Not only will they hear you speak differently, but they will see you live differently.
It's a time of PREPARATION. Don't let this year pass you by without you VISUALISING what you can do to be independent of anyone. God is not excited when it looks like your life is dependent on somebody else, No we are not beggars. Because the world is also preparing, testing how they will work against those who stand for God.
Pray, and as you pray, God will show you the direction you're supposed to go in life.
You can't have the name of Jesus and be disadvantaged in anyway. God has come to tabernacle inside of you, and has given you the authority in the name of Jesus to use to do anything that you desire. How can you be threatened (eg. mandatory vaccination at work)? Use the name of Jesus on your superiors, for no authority is above Jesus.
No one will follow you and walk in darkness. You are the light of the world. Jesus said as I am, so are you on earth. So say to yourself, I lead people in light.
WHAT IS SACRIFICE
Sacrifice is the act of surrendering a possession as an offering to a deity.
It's also the act of giving up something that you value for the sake of something else that you regard as worthy.
In the game of draft (checkers), sometimes you can see that a player keeps pushing his pawns for his opponent to take. Then all of a sudden, he makes a play that takes all the opponents pawns and he wins the game. What he did was sacrifice his pawns, to win the battle.
When we look at sacrifice in the word of God, we see that it can be:
- Voluntary
- Commanded of God
However, one thing you must know of sacrifice is that it must be of value to the one giving it.
2 Samuel 24:20-24
David was offered oxen and threshing for free, to use as a sacrifice to God, for appeasement of the sins of his people. However, David pointed out that he will not make a sacrifice of something that cost him nothing. Showing us that whatever you give as a sacrifice onto God, is an indication of the honour and respect you have for Him.
Malachi 1:10-14
Malachi 1:14
When God says "Cursed be" he is not cursing or abusing, he's saying you have departed from the line of blessing. You've moved yourself from the path He ordained a blessing for you. So sacrifice positions you on the path of blessing.
Genesis 3:21
When Adam sinned, and God took an animal and slaughtered it, it was not just a matter of clothing them. It was a sign of what the Lord Jesus was coming to do. It was an atonement of the sin that they had committed.
Hebrews 9:22
In the old testament, we discover there was a lot of 'sin sacrifices'. In those days, 'sin sacrifices' were completely burnt up. You bring an animal, give it to the Priest, and he, on your behalf will offer it how God wanted it to be offered. They would take out the internal organs, burn them in the temple, then take the carcass to a specific place of ashes and burn them completely.
There was also a peace or fellowship sacrifice, which was different. For this one, after slaughtering the animal, you take the fat and internal organs and burn it in the temple. The skin is given to the Priest, and the flesh is given to the one making the offering. So you, God, the Priest you are all eating together, sharing the offering and being in fellowship.
Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins. But the sacrifices of animals could only serve for atonement but not a remission. Only Jesus was a pure and worthy enough sacrifice to bring the remission, the blotting away of sin.
Mathew 5:17
Jesus said, he came to fulfil the law. Fulfilling the payment for sin for all men, according to the law.
John 1:29
Jesus was the perfect sacrifice, so we do not need to bring any lamb to sacrifice to God. As long as we accept Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross, we come under the payment of his perfect sacrifice.
2 Corinthians 5:21, Ephesians 2:8-9
It is by grace, that we have received the life of righteousness. Jesus took our sin, and gave us his life.
So what and how do we perform sacrifices today? Remember we said sacrifice is giving something of value as an offering to deity. Although you no longer need to bring an animal to sacrifice so that God accepts you, He still expects us to offer to him in recognition of his Greatness or Importance in your life.
Hebrews 13:11-13
You can't carry this message and be looking at yourself. Maybe people will look down on you, but don't mind, it's a sacrifice that you're making. Maybe you're in a high position where you work, but because of sharing the message people speak behind your back, don't be offended. You're sacrificing your prestige for the kingdom of God.
Jesus died as a criminal, stripped completely naked, disgraced. If He could do that, sacrifice his best, so openly, why would you want to hide? You must be ready to give your very self.
Hebrews 13:14-15
The second sacrifice he expects us to give, is a Sacrifice of Praise. That is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. You don't just do that in your closet, or in church, but everywhere, all the time. Not only when things are good.
Hebrews 13:16
The word share is translated in other translations as communicate, partner, contribute. So when in the house of God we come together to work towards a cause, you have to make it sacrifice. Whenever you are thinking about what to give to God, think about what is valuable to you
God has said that there is nothing that you do that won't be rewarded.
