Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Teaching

Service Title: Prayer

Acts 12:1- (KJV)

Peter, James and John were the closest to Jesus

The two Sons of Zebedee were James and John

Though James was closest to Jesus, he was killed.

How come?

He wasn’t just one of the disciples, he was very close to Jesus

When Jesus went to the Mount of Transfiguration, He took 3 people with Him and James was part of them.

People might ask, ‘why did God let it happen?’

This is to blame God for letting it happen, that is holding God responsible for it.

You should find out if God had the responsibility to stop it

If your thinking is wrong, your talking will be wrong

We’ve never really expressed ourselves as much as God will want us to do.

Acts 3

Luke 10:19

We have been given the power of attorney to live in the Name of Jesus

But the trouble is most Christians are not using what they have been given but they blame God for troubles.

Death is not the end

At the tomb of Lazarus Jesus wept not because of Lazarus' death but because of the people

He saw death as nothing yet it had power to destroy God’s people.
So He wept because of the people and not Lazarus

Death has been defeated that is what the Bible tells us but it shall be destroyed (annihilated)

Use the Name of Jesus on that situation right now!

If it is a death issue say ‘in the Name of Jesus, I keep his life in him’

1 Corinthians 13:11

God expects you to put away childish things.

Don’t pray ‘Father as we are going to bed please protect us’

No!

Say ‘in the Name of Jesus we are protected. We live in Christ. We are protected- hallelujah!’

Some people will say don’t you think you are taking God for granted?

Do you think He is under obligation to do what you want?

tell them:

The thing is your assumption is your problem

Didn’t God say ask and I will give you?

John 16:24

He didn’t say ask in His will but according to His Will

1 John 5:14-16

The word of God is light

You are wonderful

Your faith is alive

The Bible tells us how that Paul perceived that a certain man had faith to be healed

You can perceive faith

Whenever we are introduced to the subject of asking, the Will of God is in place

James 1:5-6

James is saying you don’t get what you want because you are not asking anything.

The way you ask is what he is talking and not what you ask

That means ask according to His, ask in faith and ask in the Name of Jesus

He hears us when we ask in faith and in the Name of Jesus

John 15:7

He didn’t say you shall ask what He wills but what you will. Glory!

When you abide in Him as He abides in you, you don’t have a problem asking amiss

Acts 12:2-5

Four quaternions means four soldiers in a group and they were four groups so in all they were 16 soldiers

Why does it have to take the death of someone for us to learn a lesson?

What the Church didn’t do when James was taken was prayer

So when Peter was taken, they made prayers without ceasing

If Herod made soldiers on watch without ceasing so that Peter couldn't  escape, the Church decided to also pray without ceasing.

When your family faces a challenge or is being attacked, what do you do?

Do you sit and cry and complain?
Pray!
